MISSION STATEMENT
An association of freelance court reporters with the common goal of bringing awareness to the profession, advocating for equitable treatment and ensuring the viability of the profession today and for all future freelance court reporters in Michigan.
Michigan court reporters have not had a page rate increase since 1986. Freelance court reporters are small businesses that provide a vital service to the Michigan judicial system, but we are struggling. Unlike court reporters employed by the courts, freelance reporters are contracted to provide transcript preparation, but are only paid the page rate; no salary, benefits, retirement.
Freelance reporters need to work together to have our voices heard. Our petition has been circulating and the signatures are growing. We are getting attention, but there's still work to do. Now is the time to join together.
